A woman caught on camera making racist comments at Fort Lauderdale Walgreens feels she was provoked

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A racist outburst was captured on camera after a woman shouted obscenities at customers inside a Fort Lauderdale Walgreens

It was an Islamophobic, racist and hateful bastard who was captured on cell phone video, 911 calls and the camera of the police force.

Local 10 News spoke on both sides of the story.

Nahla Ebaid was one of the people who received this hatred.

“Very disgusting,” he said. “I can still hear his words in my ears.”

Ebaid, her husband, and a few other friends were in town on vacation in late March, and as they were heading to a Walgreens in Fort Lauderdale, the woman came in without a mask and the cashier asked her to put one on.

“He looked at us and said,‘ I’d like to be from your country so I don’t have to wear the mask, ’” Ebaid said. “So we said,‘ What country is this? We are from New York. “

That’s when the woman exploded, yelling at the Muslims and throwing insults at them. Nahla said she started recording the prank after the woman spat at her husband.

Luba Bozanich is the wife of this video and told Ian Margol on Local 10 News that while she regrets what she said, she felt they had provoked her.

“I don’t like what I saw, but I’m human,” Bozanich said. “When this guy said what he was telling me, I told him what he was saying and I got angry. I felt very angry and I told him I said it ”.

Eventually, police arrived and arrested Bozanich, but Ebaid and his family chose not to file charges.

“My message to Muslim women: wear your hijab, don’t be afraid to wear it,” Ebaid said.

Bozanich, who is a licensed clinical social worker in Florida, said she has an illness that makes it difficult to wear a mask.

The incident happened a couple of weeks ago, but it is now more poignant than ever, as Ramadan begins on Tuesday for Muslims around the world.
