Kyle Higashioka hits the field with a kick on the field and on Twitter.
Of all the tweets the Yankee catcher could have responded to, after two wins in Monday night’s 3-1 win over the Blue Jays, he chose one that had repressed fans.
After the Yankees ’win over Toronto, Jack“ CouRage ”Dunlop, a popular Internet personality and co-owner of Sports, tweeted to the team, writing,“ @Yankees I get a Kyle Higashioka tattoo on the a bold move that was presumably fueled by Higashioka’s offensive stellar performance, as well as his direct chemistry with pitcher Gerrit Cole.
“It’s real,” Higashioka replied to Dunlop’s tweet.
Dunlop he simply replied: “Sh-t …”.
Higashioka hasn’t responded yet, but many Twitter users found the exchange fun. Others jokingly called Dunlop to jump on the Higashioka chariot after his continued progress behind the plate and on the bat.
Higashioka has been a bright spot for the Yankees and is the popular backup of Gary Sanchez. Cole, the ace of the team, has had a much more consistent performance with Higashioka than Sanchez.
During Monday night’s clash, Higashioka split on both sides of the ball, playing a key role in Cole’s support and giving up two homers, prompting the Yankees to win the night they fought the flat.
Aaron Boone said that while Higashioka will not be the “full-time” catcher of 30-year-old Cole, who was selected by the team in the seventh round of the 2008 MLB draft, the ” it will catch a lot. ” Boone noted that Sanchez will still catch Cole on occasion.
