Plans to expand eligibility and reopen the economy
Although health authorities already predicted that there would be fewer doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine this week, a prolonged discontinuation of its use could significantly delay the California vaccination campaign.
the complete reopening of the state, scheduled for June 15, is conditioned on the progress of inoculation. But it’s still unclear whether Johnson & Johnson’s temporary suspension will affect Governor Gavin Newsom’s goals.
The announcement of the temporary cessation of Johnson & Johnson vaccine use is coming days before eligibility is extended to inoculate all residents of the state over the age of 16. However, many counties and cities have advanced state guidelines and are vaccinating younger ones as well.
In the case of the city of Los Angeles, it has already allowed those over 16 since last Sunday book an appointment at the vaccination points managed by the city. As of this Tuesday, this age group has already started vaccinating in the indicated places.
