On July 10 in Las Vegas there will be many people present at UFC 264, UFC President Dana White announced Wednesday. The pay-per-view card will be held at T-Mobile Arena and will be led by the trilogy fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.
“I signed a combat deal this morning,” McGregor told ESPN’s Ariel Helwani on Wednesday. “I’m going to boot this game a new hole on July 10. The Mac is back in Sin City! Complete!”
McGregor aims to recover from his second-round TKO defeat to Poirier at UFC 257 in January. He had previously won Poirier in 2014.
“I’m very happy to be able to say Vegas is back,” White said in his video in a tweet. “This summer, Las Vegas reopens its doors and on July 10, UFC 264 will be at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with 100% capacity. Ladies and gentlemen, there are 20,000 fans.”
White’s tweet comes a day after Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak announced the goal of removing social distancing restrictions on May 1 and reaching 100% of statewide capacity from on June 1st.
The UFC has held events in Las Vegas, Florida and Fight Island (in Abu Dhabi) since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. UFC 261 on April 24 has three fights for the title and will be held in Jacksonville, Florida. It will be the first pay-per-view with audience capability since March 2020.
