According to the report for decision-making in school communities in Puerto Rico, schools in these 68 municipalities will have to close and remain in the virtual mode.

However, due to the drastic increase in reported infections, schools in the public and private system are virtually on Monday, April 12 for the next two weeks.

Municipalities at the level of High transmission for the period included in this report are: Aguadilla, Aigües Bones, Aibonito, Arecibo, Arroyo, Barranquitas, Bayamón, Cap Roig, Caguas, Camuy, Canóvanas, Carolina, Cataño, Cayey, Ceiba, Ciales, Cidra, Comerío, Corozal, Culebra, Florida, Guayanilla, Guaynabo, Gurabo, Guánica, Hatillo, Formiguers, Humacao, Isabela, Jayuya, Juana Díaz, Joncs, Lajas, Lares, Les Marías, Les Pedres, Loíza, Luquillo, Maricao, Maunabo, Mayagüez, Moca, Morovis, Naguabo, Naranjito, Orocovis, Patilles, Quebradillas , Corner, Rio Grande, Sabana Gran, Salines, San Juan, San Lorenzo, San Sebastian, Santa Isabel, Toa Alta, Toa Baixa, Trujillo Alto, Utuado, Vega Alta, Baix Segura, Villalba and Yauco.

Similarly, 12 municipalities are at the level of Substantial Transmission. These are: Attached, Aguada, Añasco, Barceloneta, Dorado, Fajardo, Guayama, Manatí, Peñuelas, Ponce, San Germa’n and Yabucoa.

It was also reported that the municipality of Coamo is at the level of Moderate transmission.

For its part, Old ones is the only municipality with Low transmission.

The document was prepared with test data conducted between March 31 to April 6 with data updated to April 13.

  • It is classified as a municipality with a low risk of transmission, in blue, if the rate per 100,000 inhabitants is less than 10 in the past seven days.
  • It is classified as a municipality at risk of moderate transmission, in yellow, if the rate per 100,000 inhabitants is greater than or equal to 10 and less than 50 in the past seven days.
  • It is classified as a municipality at risk of substantial transmission, with orange color, if the rate per 100,000 inhabitants is greater than or equal to 50 and less than 100 in the past seven days.
  • It is classified as a municipality with a high risk of transmission, in red, if the rate per 100,000 inhabitants is greater than or equal to 100 in the past seven days.
