Gurman: Apple’s “Spring Loaded” event won’t feature anything “particularly innovative”

Bloomberg’s highly respected Mark Gurman says he doesn’t expect anything “especially innovative” or “extraordinary” to be presented at Apple’s “Spring Loaded” event next week, Tuesday, April 20th.

Gurman made the statements during an interview for Bloomberg Technology, in which he reaffirmed that Apple will launch a new 11-inch, 12.9-inch iPad Pro, with the higher-end model with a new mini-LED display. Gurman says these new iPads are just an “iterative update” to the iPad line, a family of products increasingly vital to the tech giant thanks to the global health crisis.

The event will be the first launch of Apple’s product in 2021 and speculation about what could be announced is not at all underestimated. One of the biggest new products expected from Apple is the redesign of iMacs, which Bloomberg has previously reported that it will receive a design that matches the Pro Display XDR and a more powerful silicon chip from Apple.

No deadline has been set for when these new iMacs could debut and Gurman says, “if the iMac launches right away, it will be a big deal.” According to reports, Apple is also preparing to launch AirTags, a circular tile-shaped tracking device that can be connected and used to locate items such as keys, bags and more.

The event will take place on Tuesday, April 20 and will be streamed live via Apple’s website, Apple TV app and Apple’s YouTube channel. It will begin at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, and for those who can’t see it, MacRumors will provide full event coverage both on MacRumors.com and through MacRumorsLive Twitter account.
