After months of rumors and denials Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez announced Thursday that they have ended their relationship and are better “as friends,” promising to support each other in both staff and business projects of both.
The announcement was made exclusively on the “Today” program of our sister network NBC. In the statement they also said that they want the best for their children and that out of respect for them, they would only thank everyone for their words of support and encouragement.
The famous couple, who stayed together for almost four years, had denied their separation months ago when they indicated they were working on their relationship and that their engagement was still standing.
At that time the singer and the former athlete also broke the silence in a joint statement sent to E! News. “All the reports are incorrect … We are working on some things,” they said.
While it was learned then that the famous actress was working in the Dominican Republic while the former baseball player was in Miami, she was soon seen together when Rodriguez traveled to the island to visit her.
Jennifer Lopez’s boyfriend was reportedly charged with fraud and embezzlement.
López and Rodríguez announced their engagement in March 2019. J. had said in December that, after the postponement of their wedding to A-Rod due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was in no hurry to get married.
The romantic life of Jennifer Lopez has been the subject of interest in the entertainment press for over 20 years.
The so-called “Bronx Diva” has been married three times. Her first marriage was to Cuban businessman Ojani Noa, and she later married dancer Cris Judd.
