Purchase of EA by the manufacturer of racing games Codemasters means EA Sports has an F1 racing game for the first time since 2003. F1 2021, available July 16 for Xbox, PlayStations and PC, expands race mode to include a two-player option and introduces Braking Point, a narrative-based story mode that is sure to make driving very fast and very low. more exciting and immersive.

The last time EA released an F1 game was in 2003 F1 Career Challenge, a game that doesn’t even justify it a “reception” section on Wikipedia. At the time, EA had lost its F1 license, so it released a game that dates back to the 1999-2002 seasons it had previously licensed. Sad. But now EA owns Codemasters, the company that has been making official F1 games since 2009, which is once again competing with EA Sports for the most resounding car races.

While Codemasters says the new Braking Point story mode has been around for years, it feels like a very EA Sports thing, adding a more personal experience to a somewhat impersonal racing game. There aren’t many details yet on what exactly Braking Point involves beyond a dramatic trailer and a fist name, but it will appear Devon Butler, the rival character of F1 2019 whom players despise.

And here it is. It might have been nice to get some racing car screenshots or something, but that will have to do it for now. Welcome back to EA Sports, Formula 1 race.
