Kevin Durant lost Wednesday’s loss to the 76ers, a loss that could end up costing the Nets local home advantage, and Chris “Mad Dog” Russo had a big problem with that decision.
The former host of the WFAN talk show, who now works for SiriusXM, tore apart the Nets and their star for skipping the showdown, though Durant has just returned from a hamstring injury that nearly cost him two months.
“It simply came to our notice then [former Knicks coach] Pat Riley, ‘Hey Pat, no [Patrick] Ewing tonight. I know you’re playing the Bulls and [Michael] Jordan, but Ewing will pass because he has sore knees, “Russo said hyperbolically.” There were many nights in many locker rooms when Ewing had to brake the ice on his knees, talking to the media. … All the games sat there with ice on their knees and I played night after night after night after night after night! He played ass! Night after night! … And now I’ll tell you something, Ewing wanted to play! ”
He continued to bring in other players from past eras who would not miss a game, such as Jordan or Paul Silas or John Havlicek.
“Twice as many as any of these guys. It makes me sick,” Russo said. “How the freaking Durant says, ‘I’m playing! Get the hell out of here!’
Russo also launched an excavation on Durant for his Instagram dispute with actor Michael Rapaport.
“Instead of fighting Michael Rapaport, what if Durant said freaking [Steve] Nash and his haunting owner, who pays him $ 40 million, and his GM [Sean] Marks, who is freaking out of the [Gregg] The Popovich school, what to say about Durant just say, ‘Give me the freaking uniform, I’m playing tonight,’ “he said.
