The prosecution found the remains of the newborn in front of the family home.
A 40-year-old man identified as Crisanto TC was captured by police officers in the village of Tres Rius, municipality of Iscán Playa Platja, Quiché department, Guatemala, accused of rape and parricide.
The arrest took place when local police were alerted that the day before a baby had been buried in front of Crisanto’s home.
According to preliminary inquiries, the man allegedly raped his daughter last year, but she said nothing because he threatened her if she commented on anything to her family.

Authorities reported that 22 days ago the 15-year-old gave birth in her home, the parent assisted her in childbirth, then suffocated the newborn and buried him in front of the house.
Prosecutors and police investigators located the baby’s remains and arrested the man as a suspect in the baby’s murder and rape of his daughter. The village of Tres Rius is a remote rural area of the neighboring country that is three hours from the center of the municipality of Iscán Platja Gran, there is no telephone signal much less basic services.
