Turns out John Stamos was pretty “disappointed” that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen didn’t reprise their joint role as Michelle Tanner in “Fuller House,” Netflix’s follow-up series on “Full House.”
When Stamos and her “Big Shot” co-star Yvette Nicole Brown sat down with Andy Cohen for a virtual appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” a couple of sisters called to ask about some things.
The women asked Stamos, 57, who was thrilled to film the finale of the “Fuller House” series, which aired last year. They also asked him if he was “surprised” that the Olsens didn’t even make a cameo on the show.
Stamos said the end of “Full House” was “emotional,” and stressed that when we did the original series, we were canceled and we knew it like a week before, and we were doing one last regular show. We never did the final show, so it was pretty emotional. “
He revealed that his last day on the set of “Fuller House” was full of his own tumult, as he had to “make all this cry” for his “Fuller House” scenes and then “scream and scream” while filming scenes for “Big Shot” at Disney +.
Cohen pressured Stamos on the Olsen twins, asking, “Were you surprised that the Olsens never made an appearance on the show or did you know that when they didn’t say ‘We’re not doing it’ they didn’t? ‘
Stamos said he and the rest of the cast were “disappointed, but we got it.”
“I remember Lori [Loughlin] telling me, ‘They earned two or three CFDAs [Fashion] Awards. “It’s like winning two or three Oscars,” he said. “If you won three Oscars, would you do that again? He would say to me, “Hey, maybe not.”
According to reports, the producers tried to incorporate the Olsens into the first Netflix season of the show in 2016. Producer Bob Boyett told People at the time that Ashley had told him, “I haven’t been in front of a camera since 17 years old, and no I don’t feel comfortable acting. “
Mary-Kate said, “It should be me because Ash doesn’t want to.” But the timing is so bad for us, ”Boyett said.
