MDHHS extends the epidemic order in masks and meetings

LANSING, Michigan. – Michiganders will have to wear masks and avoid meeting for most of May, after the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services extended its key epidemic order.

The department announced Friday that the collection and mask order set last year will now be extended at least until May 24th.

MDHHS director Elizabeth Hertel cited the state’s high positivity rate and the large number of COVID cases in the hospital.

The extension comes with a new requirement: children ages 2 to 4 must make a good faith effort to wear a mask when they are in a daycare center or camp. This mandate takes effect on April 26th.
