Heavy Omaha police presence at Westroads JC Penney’s Mall

OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT): Omaha police have an active scene outside JC Penney at Westroads Mall.

Witnesses tell 6 news outlets who heard gunshots. Police say people should avoid going to the mall today.

Shooting incident at Westroads Mall. One victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The suspects fled the scene and are at large. OPD searches the entire mall as a precaution. Avoid the area. A press release with more information will be sent later.

Police were in the same area just over a month ago when a shooting occurred at the mall on March 12 and left OPD officer Jeffrey Wittstruck injured.
