It looks like a prominent leaker has hinted that Apple will introduce several color options for an updated iMac model at its “Spring Loaded” event;
Rumors about Apple’s special event on April 20 have launched Apple several different devices, including updated iPad models and an Apple Silicon version of the iMac. The well-known product leaker “L0vetodream” suggests in a later analysis of the RA teaser for the event that the iMac update could be colorful.
Piulant on Saturday, the account combines an image of the RA invitation logo along with one showing several iMac G3s. The model in question was well known for being offered to the public in a wide variety of bright colors.
However, after the first reports in the tweet, “@ L0vetodream” offered in a second message they “said nothing” in that first post.
Earlier, the tweeter speculated that Apple might introduce an iMac with a much larger screen than the existing 27-inch iMac model, though it stopped advising on sizes.
Earlier rumors claimed that Apple is reflecting on the possibility of providing color options for the new iMac, such as in publications released in February. The models were described as a mixture of the Pro Display XDR and the iPad Pro, with screens and colors similar to the iPad Air.
It is very likely that Apple will use this release of iMac to introduce Apple Silicon, but it is unclear whether it will continue with the M1 or introduce a new variant. Published Friday, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg he thought, “Would anyone else find it weird that a big iMac uses basically the same processor as an iPad Pro?”
It’s unclear if this refers to the M-Series chips being similar to the well-known A-Series, or whether Apple plans to use a modified version of the M1 on the iMac. Typically, Apple uses updated versions of A-Series chips in its iPad Pro range, so Gurman’s mention might infer that something similar could happen to the iMac.
February speculations had the “M1X” as a 12-core CPU, more than the 8-core M1, in addition to increasing the GPU from 8-core to 16-core. It was also claimed that the chip is manufactured with a 5 nanometer process, which has 256 execution units compared to 128 on the M1 and is capable of driving three screens instead of two.
