Prince Edward’s wife, Sophie, has emerged from the shadows of minor royalty and has revealed herself as Queen Elizabeth’s “royal rock”.
Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 56, is married to the Queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward, 57, and royal inmates say they share a close bond with Her Majesty.
“The Queen trusts and trusts her in a way that she could not say applied to the Duchess of Cambridge or the Duchess of Cornwall,” an expert told Express UK. “She’s like one more daughter of Her Majesty: they’re so close.”
One courtesan explained, “If you ask who is Her Majesty’s favorite son, it’s none of them, it’s his daughter-in-law.”
The Queen is said to often ask her daughter-in-law to accompany her to the car before attending church, as she “finds Sophie’s presence reassuring.”
Sophie was the first member of the family to speak publicly about the death of her father-in-law, Prince Philip. In a special church service in honor of the Duke of Edinburgh, Sophie emotionally described her last moments.
“It was right for him. It was so soft, “he said.” It was like someone took him by the hand and left. Very, very peaceful, and that’s all you want for someone, right? “
Prince Edward began dating Sophie Rhys-Jones, who grew up in a middle-class family in 1994. Her father is a retired sales manager for a tire and rubber company and her mother was a worker and secretary. . His godfather is actor Thane Bettany, his father’s half-brother and the father of “WandaVision” actor Paul Bettany.
Sophie’s pre-real career took place in public relations, which she met Prince Edward. The two began dating in 1993 and were married in June 1999.
But, like many members of the royal family, he has not been immune to scandal. In 2001, she was created by a tabloid journalist posing as an Arab sheik allegedly courting her public relations firm. In her secretly recorded conversation, Sophie called Cherie, the wife of then-Prime Minister Tony Blair, “absolutely horrible, horrible.”
The following year, it was announced that Sophie was leaving her “daily job” to focus more on royal activities and social commitments.
Sophie and Edward’s path to fatherhood was not easy. In 2001, Sophie was found to be in a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy and required emergency surgery. Two years later, she became a mother when she gave birth prematurely to her daughter Louise by emergency cesarean section after a placental rupture, which caused severe blood loss to both mother and baby.
Due to premature birth, Louise was born with esotropia, an eye condition in which one or both eyes turn inward. She underwent two operations to repair the problem. In 2007, Sophie gave birth to her son James, Viscount Severn, who at the age of 13 was on Saturday his youngest assistant in his grandfather’s funeral service.
Sophie is clearly no diva: in a 2012 cost-cutting measure, her full-time police protection detail was reduced and is now only used when she is in actual service. Edward was said to be lawful for the decision, but his wife rejoiced.
A friend told The Sun: “I would rather not have a police presence 24 hours a day. I meant that I could pick up the children from school alone, without any fear ”.
Sophie and Edward’s children have no royal titles. They could have received the titles of princess and prince, but her parents decided otherwise.
“We try to educate them with the understanding that they are very likely to have to work to make a living,” Sophie told the Sunday newspaper. “So we made the decision not to use HR titles. They have them and can decide to use them [when they turn] 18, but it is very unlikely ”.
“They go to a regular school,” Sophie continued. “They go to friends to spend their holidays and sleep. On the weekends we do a lot of walks with dogs and we stay with friends. I guess not all grandparents live in a castle, but where you go is not the important part, nor who they are. When they are with the queen, she is their grandmother ”.
Louise is said to be the queen’s favorite and Prince Philip also had a close bond with her granddaughter. They both loved driving carriages and it is said that Prince Philip left Lady Windsor two of her ponies and her Notlaw Storm, the four-wheeled carriage seen during the televised funeral last Saturday.
