1,959 new cases of COVID, 22 deaths, 65 billion vaccines – NBC Chicago

Illinois health officials reported 1,959 confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus and 22 additional deaths in the last day, along with more than 65,000 vaccines administered.

New coronavirus cases reported Monday bring the state total to 1,304,200 cases since the pandemic began. The additional 22 deaths raised the total number of deaths to 21,685, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

In the last 24 hours, 47,506 coronavirus testing samples were returned to state laboratories, with more than 21.7 million now performed during the pandemic.

Statewide positivity remained constant Monday, with 4% of all tests yielding positive results. The positivity rate of people tested in the last seven days also remained at 4.7%, according to IDPH data.

The state reported 65,233 vaccines administered on the last day, according to the latest data. Vaccines brought the seven-day rotating average of vaccines administered at 125,212 doses.

Since Monday, the state has administered more than 8 million doses of coronavirus vaccine during the pandemic, while receiving 9,930,945 doses.

At midnight, 2,128 patients were hospitalized due to COVID, and the numbers are gradually increasing over the past month. Of these patients, 491 are in ICU beds and 227 are currently in state ventilators.
