Nine youths were shot after a dispute broke out at a 12-year-old boy’s birthday party in Louisiana on Saturday night, authorities said.
About 60 youths were attending the rally at a LaPlace home when they fired shots around 8:40 p.m., according to a press release from the St. John the Baptist parish sheriff’s office.
Investigators believe a dispute between two groups of young males led to the shooting.
The victims of the shootings were 17 years old or younger. Two of them remained hospitalized as of Monday, according to police, while the other seven were taken care of and released.
No arrests have been made and police said witnesses to the chaos have continued to be a mother.
“Not a single person has made a formal statement,” Sheriff Mike Tregre said in a statement.
“I ask witnesses to present information to help us learn more about what happened,” he said.
