Uries strikes at 11 and whitens him in Seattle

SEATTLE – July Uries enjoyed his trip to Seattle and his performance against the Mariners much more than the last time he had pitched here.

The Mexican shone during a seven-innings job, with a one-hit ball and 11 strikeouts, and the Los Angeles Dodgers outscored the Mariners 1-0 on Tuesday.

The encounter between two equipment that leaves like divisional leaders in this beginning of season turned out to be a great duel of pitching.

Uries got the most strikes in his career and beat Marc Gonzales (1-2). Corey Seager produced the only run, using a single with two outs in the third inning, opened by AJ Pollock with a double.

These were the only unstoppable Los Angeles in the game.

And for Uries, the result was very different from last summer, when he did not survive the second inning. That was his only previous opening against Seattle.

The pitcher said that unusual outing reminded him that he had to rely on his pitches.

“I know I have a really good repertoire, and I have to have confidence to attack the batsmen and trust my arm,” he commented.

Chris Taylor was retired as a man as he prepared to extend the Dodgers’ lead in the ninth inning. He tried to score with a Justin Turner roulette and it was an easy out on a shot from forward Kyle Seager.

Uries (3-0) did an excellent job. He found the corners with a straight line of about 95 mph that confused the Seattle batters. The Mariners ’only hit was a single inside the box by Mitch Haniger, when there were two outs from the third act.

It seemed that the left of Culiacán would cover an entrance more, since it realized only 88 launchings, of which 68 were strikes. However, manager Dave Roberts also turned to Mexican Victor Gonzalez in the eighth episode.

“I just can’t remember anything better in terms of effectiveness, from the first to the last pitch. He had control of his three pitches, he put himself ahead of the batsmen in the account,” Roberts stressed, referring to Uries . “He had absolute control today.”

Kenley Jansen perfectly solved the ninth inning to reach four saves and complete the task of a hit.

For the Dodgers, Puerto Rican Edwin Rius 2-0.

For the Mariners, the Venezuelan Luis Torrens 3-0.
