Apple’s AirTag item trackers can be custom-recorded using text, numbers, and even emoji, but users who want to express a little college humor will probably have to look elsewhere, because the tool Apple’s online AirTag customization is easily offended.
An AirTag is large enough to hold up to four characters or up to three emojis. This may seem like enough to be hesitantly creative with your diction, but how The Verge points out, Apple places fairly strict limitations on what can be flagged in an AirTag.
For example, a Pile of Poo emoji may not appear after a Face Horse emoji, but other animal-poo combinations are fair play. Similar limitations apply to potentially offensive words that are written with text, although some customers are sure to find their own ways of understanding the system.
It’s not the first time Apple has cut the wings of potential toilet comedians and comedians; many of the same emoji restrictions are present in AirPods and iPad prints, for example. However, the ability to record several more affordable AirTags is likely to introduce more people to Apple’s protected fun side.
IrAirTags starts at $ 29 each or $ 99 for four packages. Online orders will open this Friday, April 23rd and will be sent AirTags on April 30th. Engraving is free.
