Two Honduran migrants were shot dead and three others injured in Mexico

Two Honduran migrants were shot dead three more have been injured when attacked by two subjects who tried to rob them in the municipality of Huimanguillo, in the Mexican state of Tabasco, Southeastern country, local authorities reported on Tuesday.

According to information provided by the municipal police of the municipality, the assault took place at 08:20 hours (13.20 GMT), when the five Honduran migrants were walking on the train tracks and were caught by two alleged criminals in on board a motorcycle.

The Central Americans tried to escape the assault, but were shot during the attack on the community of Chontalpa station, About 87 miles from Villahermosa, Capital of Tabasco.

“Two men on a motorcycle shot them and wanted to assault them. They – the Central Americans – threw themselves on the run and were left on the train tracks. Here two died and three were wounded by bullets,” said Luis Mateo Diaz, municipal police inspector in Huimanguillo.

The officer said the five Central Americans were heading to Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, to catch the train to continue their journey to the United States.

He noted that the three survivors were taken for medical care to the regional hospital in the municipality of Huimanguillo, Where they were treated for gunshot wounds.

The migrants injured with a firearm are: Eliezer Joaquin Sosa Madariaga, 27, who has a bullet impact to his right arm; Yondi Renan Rojas, 32, with a bullet wound to his right leg and Gerson Obany Reis Sánchez, 23, injured in the left rib.

While the two dead have not yet been identified.
