There have been disturbing images in which one Afghan police officer was executed by the Taliban after surrendering to the militants, according to reports.
Former BBC journalist Nasrin Nawa posted the terrible video that appears to show Haji Mullah Achakzai, chief of police in Badghis province near Herat.
The man is seen in the clip with his eyes blindfolded and kneeling before several bullets sound and his lifeless body falls to the ground.

“This is his public amnesty,” Nawa wrote, referring to the Taliban’s statement this week amid attempts by insurgents to present a moderate face after coming to power.
The police chief was reportedly arrested by the Taliban during his nationwide bombardment in the direction of the capital Kabul, where they overthrew the government on Sunday.
The group shared the distressing clip through a Taliban-related network, Afghan security adviser Nasser Waziri told Newsweek, adding that the images were verified by other police officers and government officials. .
According to the magazine, the Taliban had been on the lookout for Achakzai after fighting extremists alongside the Afghan government.
“I was surrounded by the Taliban and had no choice but to surrender last night,” Waziri said. who also released the clip, he told Newsweek. “The Taliban targeted Achakzai because he was a senior intelligence official.”
Waziri said he and other top advisers have set up an online private group chat of dozens of Afghan officials who used to work with the civilian government to check each person’s whereabouts and make sure they were safe.
A friend of Waziri, a district governor, has been hiding in Kabul while the Taliban recently visited some of his relatives in Nurstin province, Newsweek reported.
