The Mets demanded that pitcher Heath Hembree reject the resignations on Friday, the team announced, and in a corresponding play, they transferred Jacob deGrom to the 60-day IL.
According to the Mets, “the state and chronology remain unchanged” for deGrom, whose closure due to elbow inflammation will continue next week. He is now eligible to return from IL on September 13th.
Hembree was appointed Wednesday by the Reds after a catastrophic outing against the Cubs, where he allowed five runs won in just two-thirds of an inning. He had been struggling to achieve this, allowing 13 runs in total in seven innings since July 26.
His ERA stands at 6.38 in 2021, after 45 appearances in Cincinnati.
The Mets bullring has been taxed all year and many of those who pitched well have struggled during the team’s recent fall. Pitchers like Jeurys Familia and Miguel Castro have returned to the ground recently after strong starts as tickets have accumulated.

It may be a stretch to pull out major entries from Hembree, as his ERA was 9.00 in 2020 before his 2021 fights. However, he was effective earlier with the Red Sox, finishing with an ERA of 3.86 on 2019 with a K / 9 of 10.4.
To make way for Hembree, they had to move from Grom to the 60-day injured list.
