Officials administered more than a million Covid vaccines in 24 hours, the highest since July 3

After several weeks of delayed rates, the pace of U.S. vaccinations against COVID-19 has revived.

More than a million Americans have received a COVID-19 vaccine in the last 24 hours, which is a one-day high in seven weeks.

Of those shots, more than half were people receiving the first dose of a two-dose vaccine.

In addition, several states experiencing the highest uptake of shots are among those with the worst rises in Covid cases, such as Florida and Louisiana.

The rises are due to fear of the Indian variant of the Delta and governments and companies requiring vaccinations for workers and customers. In the photo: Diana Meyers gets a third dose of the Modern COVID-19 vaccine at a vaccination clinic in Pasadena, California, on August 19

After millions of Americans lined up to wait for their turn to be vaccinated in the winter and spring, the pace slowed in the summer.

However, a mixture of fear due to the spread of the Indian Delta variant and the vaccination mandates of governments and companies have caused the demand to rise again.

On Thursday, the United States reported 1,023,545 new doses administered in a single day, which is the most seen since July 3, when 1,161,081 doses were administered.

That number includes 562,000 first doses according to White House Covid data director Cyrus Shahpar.

“The first day of 1 million was reported in almost seven weeks!” made a tweet on Thursday.

‘[Thirty one percent] increase on weekdays among the daily average of people completing their vaccine series, maximizing their protection against Delta. “

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that some states that see disproportionately high case rates also see their vaccination rates rise to the highest levels in months.

In Florida, the seven-day average of vaccines administered is 78,137, the highest figure since June 23.

And in Louisiana, officials report a seven-day average of 20,642 a day, a figure not seen since May 12.

President Joe Biden also announced the good news and urged Americans to continue receiving gunshots.

“We have administered more than one million doses of COVID-19 vaccine in the last 24 hours; it is the highest number in seven weeks,” he tweeted on Thursday.

‘If you haven’t already, get vaccinated. We follow that momentum and defeat COVID-19. “

It comes a day after the White House said it plans to make all COVID-19 booster vaccines available to all Americans, not just those with compromised immune systems.

Three studies, published by the CDC the same day, suggested that vaccines protect against serious illness, hospitalization, and death, but lose effectiveness against mild to moderate illness.

Adults over the age of 18 from the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine will be eligible to receive a third dose eight months after their final vaccination from the week of September 20th.

The decision is pending approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and a recommendation from the CDC advisory committee.

During an interview with Good morning America on Thursday, Biden said he and First Lady Jill Biden plan to receive reinforcements.

“We’re going to get the reinforcements. And it’s something I think, you know, because we thought we got there in December,” Biden told host George Stephanopoulos.

“So time has passed … Yes, we’ll get the reinforcements.”
