PS5 and PS4 have just lost an exclusive game against Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. On two different occasions this year, we reported on scuttlebutt that the exclusive PlayStation 2021 console, Oddworld: Storm of souls, was ready to leave its console exclusive and reach the Xbox consoles. This week, it was finally confirmed by the developer Oddworld Inhabitants, although right now it is not known when exactly this will happen. What Xbox fans did get is a trailer that accompanied the news.
Oddworld: Storm of souls debuted on April 6 via PS4, PS5 and PC (Epic Games Store). At launch, the PS5 version of the game was especially free for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Although we now have news of an Xbox version, there is still no news of the game coming to Nintendo Switch, Steam or any other platform.
At launch, Oddworld: Storm of Souls it couldn’t leave a mark, apparently fell short commercially and landed at Metacritic scores of 68 and 73, according to the platform. It’s been a long time Oddworld was an industry leader in critical space, but even by the latest standards in the series, these scores are not excellent.
As for the game itself, it’s a 2014 platform game and sequel Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty! and a 1998 reimagination Oddworld: Exodus of Abe.
“Oddworld: Storm of souls it’s the evolutionary story of a revolution, “says an official commentary on the game.” Explore a large-scale cinema and 2.9D environments full of stunning visuals. Search for supplies, make weapons, arm your followers, solve puzzles, and learn Abe’s true destiny while safely releasing all 1,000 followers to freedom. Failure means the eradication of its entire species. Ready for it or not, the whole fate of the Mudokon species is in the hands of Abe (and yours)! “
As always, we’ll be sure to update the story if more details are provided before the end of the week.
