15 years ago, in 2006, I was barely 15 years old. And that year, the same year, he launched Twitter, the original Mafia: the city of the lost sky he was barely four years old. And a modder was starting to work on a mod that would add to the game a fully made and modeled Titanic. 15 years later the first part has come out.
“The Titanic Mod“It aims to create one of the most detailed and accurate free 3D recreations of the Titanic ever made.” Players will be able to explore the huge ship in free roaming mode and the final plan is to include a series of new missions involving the doomed ship and the mob. It is being developed mainly by a single man, Robin Bongaarts. According to one Eurogamer interview of last month, Bongaarts is a maritime engineer from the Netherlands who has been working on this mod since 2006.
The first part of the massive modification it was finally released yesterday, August 20th. It contains no missions on board the ship and also does not present the moment when the ship sinks the ocean. And some parts of the ship are not finished yet, according to this diagram. Still, you can run the ship and explore different parts of its very detailed exterior i rooms.
This modification includes features not found in the original base game, such as fully scalable stairs and nedant. These features were added to the modification with the help of a small team that Bongaarts works with.
If you want to try the Titanic Mod, you will need one vanilla, unmodeled version of the game. Steam and GOG versions of the open world game will also work, although this mod does not support other modifications, such as the popular widescreen fix. And no, that didn’t work out last year Definitive edition of the mafia.
You can learn more about the creator of the mod through the above Eurogamer interview or take a look at The history of Titanic mod through its Moddb page.
