After 15 months out, Becky Lynch returned her surprise in the WWE on Saturday night at SummerSlam.
Lynch took the place of Sasha Banks in the SmackDown women’s championship match at SummerSlam and defeated Bianca Belair to win the title. In a match that lasted less than 30 seconds, Lynch punched Belair and nailed her after hitting Manhandle’s blow.

This was Lynch’s first appearance on WWE programming since she announced in May 2020 that she was pregnant with her first child and that she should take a break from wrestling. Lynch (real name Rebecca Quin) and her WWE star Seth Rollins (Colby Lopez) welcomed the birth of their daughter Roux last December.
Lynch and Rollins were married this June. Lynch was also seen training at the WWE Performance Center that month.
Lynch was the female Raw champion before announcing her pregnancy.
Belair Vs. Banks was announced by SummerSlam until just before the match. Just before Banks was supposed to make its entry into pay-per-view, it was announced that it would not compete. Belair and Banks had missed shows at the WWE home last weekend and it was announced that they would not appear due to “unforeseen circumstances”. Belair returned the Friday episode of SmackDown, but Banks was not on the show.
WWE mocked that Carmella would replace Banks in the match for the title at SummerSlam until Lynch came back and fired Carmella. Then Lynch challenged Belair to confront her.
Lynch is one of the main stars of the WWE at this time. She was part of WrestleMania’s first women’s match in the main women’s event of 2019, defeating Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair.
