Sitharaman tells Infosys CEO Parekh to resolve IT portal issues before September 15

The Income Tax department said on Monday that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a meeting with Salil Parekh, CEO of Infosys, and conveyed her “disappointment” as taxpayers continue to face failures on the electronic filing portal. He sought an explanation from Parekh about the problems affecting the web portal.

The Union’s finance minister was concerned about the problems that were still on the portal despite two and a half months since its launch, the Income Tax department said in a statement.

“The Ministry of Finance emphasized the need to invest more resources and efforts on the part of Infosys to ensure the very delayed delivery of the agreed services,” the statement said.

The finance minister demanded that the Infosys team solve taxpayers ’problems while using the portal before September 15th.

“Honble’s finance minister demanded that the team resolve issues faced by taxpayers about the portal’s current functionality before September 15, 2021, so that taxpayers and professionals can work perfectly on the portal,” he said. is stated in the statement.

Infosys CEO Parekh said more than 750 team members were working on this project. He also noted to the Union Finance Minister that Infosys office manager Pravin Rao was personally overseeing the project. Parekh said efforts were being made to ensure the smooth running of the portal.
