Shaw elevated the Red Sox with great slam to the 11th

BOSTON – Travis Shaw connected on a grand slam to end the game in the 11th inning and the Boston Red Sox outscored the Texas Rangers 8-4 on Monday.

Shaw, who came on as a defensive replacement in the eighth inning, shot his home run 3-2 against Dominican Dennis Santana (2-3), commanding the ball over the Boston bullpen. He waved his bat and turned toward the cave before traversing the bases, with his companions crowding to receive him on the plate.

It was Shaw’s first hit since he was acquired on Aug. 15 after being put on Milwaukee’s transfer list.

Alex Verdugo and Hunter Renfroe also connected home runs for Boston in a game that could not be held on Sunday due to the rains caused by Hurricane Henri.

Garrett Whitlock (5-2) worked two innings and two-thirds for the win.

The Rangers add the minimum of victories in the Great Leagues from the rest by the Game of Stars, with leaf of 8-26. Andy Ibáñez connected on a two-run double to tie the board in the ninth against Matt Barnes.

For the Rangers, the Venezuelan Yonny Hernández 4-1. Cubans Adolis Garcia 5-0 and Ibáñez 4-2 with two tows.

For the Red Sox, the Puerto Rican Kike Hernández 2-0 t Christian Vázquez 0-0 with a score. Dominican Rafael Devers 5-2, with a score and a push.
