OAKLAND – The heroics of the last few entries didn’t stay in Houston.
Behind Ty France’s second draw, ninth in home goals in as many days and Jake Bauers’ two-race singles victory, the Mariners threw three runs in the ninth to beat the A, 5-3, Monday at the Oakland Coliseum.
On Sunday, the sailors surprised the Astros at Minute Maid Park behind the exploits of France. The first baseman, who now has four homers in his last five games, won the game that tied the game closest to All-Star Ryan Pressly to propel the game to additional innings. On the 11th, France again played the hero with a simple push, propelling the sailors to victory from behind.
With the win, the Mariners now go 68-58 and three games behind second-placed American League Wild League, currently in the hands of the Red Sox. Seattle is now only two games away from Oakland.
