With the significant threat posed by COVID-19 throughout the state of Louisiana due to the highly transmissible Delta variant, LSU will require all Tiger Stadium guests 12 years of age or older to present a vaccination test or PCR test. COVID-19 negative performed within 72 hours prior to entry. The decision comes after consultation and support from Governor John Bel Edwards, LSU President William F. Tate IV, the LSU Board of Supervisors, the Tiger Athletic Foundation, and athletics director Scott Woodward.
“As the flagship institution of the state of Louisiana, our primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of our students, our followers and our community,” Tate said. “While we are aware of the diverse perspectives across the country on masks and vaccines, we must take all reasonable steps to protect our campus and our community, not just on game days, but long after guests have “The current threat to our lives, our health and our medical systems due to COVID-19 is an excessive burden on our hospitals and we must do our part to stop the spread.” .
The policy will be in effect starting Sept. 11 for the home football opening against McNeese State. A list of vaccination sites in Louisiana can be found at www.ldh.la.gov.
To enter Tiger Stadium, guests 12 years of age or older must demonstrate proof of at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine that has received full approval or emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration of the United States or the World Health Organization. A vaccination card, a photo or photocopy of a vaccination card, or a verified digital proof of vaccination, including LA Wallet or other government-sanctioned mobile application, will be accepted, with entry granted after visual inspection.
Those who have not yet received a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine must submit a digital or printed test of a negative COVID-19 PCR test performed within 72 hours of initiation before entering the stage. Guests under the age of 12 must not present any negative evidence; masks will be promoted for children under 5 years and mandatory for children from 5 to 11 years.
“We have the best college football fans and we are doing our best to make your experience at Tiger Stadium this fall safe and enjoyable,” Woodward said. “When our fans arrive on Saturdays to cheer on the Tigers, they will be confident that we have taken steps to mitigate their health risks. Our football team has achieved a 99.1% vaccination and we are very proud of them for helping to protect their team and their community. We are confident that our fans will do the same, and I encourage all Tiger fans to get vaccinated today.
