Disney World reaches an agreement to demand the vaccine with unionized workers

The complex, located in Orlando, Florida, reached an agreement Monday with the Service Trades Council Union and the Actors Equity Association.

This is important, as STCU is Disney’s largest union, representing more than 30,000 employees at the complex, or as Disney likes to call them “cast members.”

“We appreciate communication and collaboration with union representatives as we put the safety of cast members at the forefront of our safety and health protocols: getting the vaccine is the best way to protect each other,” he said. Disney (DIS) a spokesman told CNN Business.
Disney and Walmart require vaccines for employees

The company has not reached agreements with all employees represented by its union at Disney World, but discussions continue.

The agreement includes all types of cast members that guests come in contact with, including vehicle operators, artists, and service workers.

Cast members must prove vaccination evidence by Oct. 22 and those with “sincerely maintained” medical conditions or religious beliefs will be exempt, STCU said.

The news comes after Disney announced last month that it would require the vaccine of all its salaried and non-union employees by the hour in the US.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday approved the Pfizer vaccine for over-16s, becoming the first vaccine to get federal approval.
