Marileidy Paulino wins first place in Lausanne, Switzerland

Dominican Marileidy Paulino won first place on Thursday in the Athletics 400m race in Lausanne, Switzerland, as part of the Diamond League.

Paulino clocked a time of 50.40 to beat Sada Williams of Barbados with 50.77 and in third place came American Quanera Hayes with 51.06.

First place in the race carried a $ 50,000 prize for Don Gregorio’s runner, Nizao.

Paulino ran in lane number six despite having previously had the best time of the eight women who participated in the event.

Paulino won two silver medals at the 2020 Tokyo Games, one in the 400 meters and another in the 4×400 mixed relay team.

For his achievements in Tokyo, the Dominican government gave him a check for RD $ 8 million for his individual medal and RD $ 1,760,000 for his team medal.

The next Diamond League event will be in Paris, France, on Saturday at 11 a.m. Dominican time.
