The Los Angeles Dodgers give fans an excuse after the epic 16-game win over the San Diego Padres

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres played an epic 16-game game. On the East Coast, it ended just before 4 a.m., when Dodgers outfielder AJ Pollock connected on a two-run homer at the top of the 16th inning to give the Dodgers a 5-3 victory.

The game lasted five hours and 49 minutes, saw 19 pitchers and a total of 489 pitches.

ā€œI’m pretty exhausted,ā€ Dodgers manager Dave Roberts later said.

Probably not the only one.

For anyone who needs to get out of work or school on Thursday, the Dodgers are here to help with a practical excuse note from work / school that is very official and should take fans out of any engagement.

The Dodgers intentionally walked 11 batters from the Parents. It is the first team to issue more than eight intentional passports since statistics were first tracked in 1955. Interestingly, the 489 throws were not the most in a game in that rivalry. In 2017, the teams combined for 525 in a 9-5 Dodgers victory in 2016 that lasted 17 innings.
