Retired Colonel Jack Jacobs told CNBC that President Joe Biden will not be able to fulfill his promise to end the war in Afghanistan and rescue all of the country’s U.S. and American allies.
“The war is not over, we will not be able to rescue everyone and I am afraid that if we are not careful, if our allies do not care, if the Taliban do not care, we will end terrorists who are out of everyone’s control. and that they will again threaten us and our allies in the future, ”Jacobs, a military analyst at NBC News, said.
Biden alluded to plans to develop targets between ISIS-K during his statements Thursday evening, after a suicide bomber outside the city airport killed at least 113 people, including 13 members of the US service .
“We will not forgive. We will not forget. We will persecute you and make you pay,” Biden said Thursday, speaking from the White House.
Jacobs told “The News with Shepard Smith” that the war would not end because of the ongoing fighting between the country’s terrorist groups.
“You will see a continuation of the battles between the Taliban and all the scattered groups trying to dispossess the Taliban,” said Jacobs, who received the U.S. Army Medal of Honor and Vietnam War hero. “This will last a long period of time.”
Jacobs told host Shepard Smith that he has spoken to people on the ground in Afghanistan who said Afghans were realizing they could not evacuate through Kabul and were preparing to look for other exits.
“They are making their way to the border, trying to get past the Taliban checkpoints on the border through Uzbekistan and other places,” Jacobs said. “I think unfortunately we’ll hear a lot of discomfort even after we leave.”
The White House did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.
