the Artillery Group No. 6 Dolores from Motorized Brigade N ° 4 Rancagua from’ Army of Chile performed a firing exercise with the rocket system LAR 160 in the polygon of Pampa Chaca, Arica.
The training of the rocket artillery unit of the VI Army Division was held from 9 to 20 August and addressed the process of operations considering the preparation, planning, execution and finally the evaluation of fires.
The activity, which is part of the institution’s annual training program, made it possible to check the capabilities of the staff and the effectiveness of the firing of this weapon in support of the combat of the Earth force.
The mission of LAR 160 is to hit targets in support of infantry battalions and tank units. It has trucks Mercedes-Benz MB 2653 equipped with two containers and capacity for 13 rockets MK-IV of 160 mm each reaching a distance of 45 kms.
The practice also included the deployment of Mercedes-Benz trucks MB 2653 of the battery of logistical support instrumented with a hydraulics crane and commissioned to realize the process of replacement of the rockets of LAR 160 once fired.
