There was no clarity on “any entity” forming a government in Afghanistan, official Foreign Ministry (MEA) spokesman Arindam Bagchi said on Friday.
Speaking at a press conference, he noted that India hoped to see how inclusive the next government in Kabul would be. The situation on the ground was “uncertain,” he noted.
“Currently, there is no clarity on any entity that will form a government in Kabul. There have been many stories about who will be represented in the government and whether the government will be inclusive, which is another question, and whether there will be other elements of Afghan politics, “he said. Explaining that India was aware of the ongoing dialogue on the formation of the government in Kabul, he said that the issue of Taliban recognition was tantamount to “jumping the gun” in view of the “fluid situation”.
“We are monitoring the situation and are in contact with partner countries,” he stressed.
Air bridge failure
Bagchi’s statement came a day after India was unable to airlift at least 160 Hindu and Sikh Afghans due to the chaotic conditions prevailing in the Afghan capital, where the Taliban have said it will not allow any further evacuation of Afghan nationals. .
Officials said India had not “stopped” the evacuation and would make airlifts at the right time. The evacuees were in a safe place in Kabul and were not harmed by the blasts that took place at the airport.
India would continue to raise the issue of terrorism at the United Nations. It was to “observe” the situation. His current concern revolved around the security of Afghans.
Explaining India’s visa policy toward Afghans seeking refuge, Bagchi noted that the “e-emergency” visa was already open to Afghans who have supported the bilateral relationship between India and India. Afghanistan.
“They are currently coming here under the six-month visa regime and we will get it out of here. It is an evolving situation and making a long-term plan is not the best of ideas, given the last few days,” he added.
