Justin Fields, Chicago Bears QB, surprises with touchdown throw in last preseason game

The Chicago Bears have already decided their starting quarterback for the season opener, but Justin Fields is not going anywhere.

Bears coach Matt Nagy said this week that veteran Andy Dalton will start his first week on the road against the Los Angeles Rams. This comes despite an impressive preseason from Fields, the draft pick for the first round of Ohio State rookies.

He threw 142 yards and a marker at the preseason opener and made Bears fans shout “Let’s go Fields,” but he wasn’t as strong in the second preseason game.

The QB’s controversy won’t go anywhere after Fields ’touchdown pass completed in the race in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

Earlier this week, while staying with Dalton, Nagy set out what he wanted to see from Fields in the preseason final outing.

“We just want to see him play hard, play well,” Nagy said. “The variables are different. It’s not there, just like Andy hasn’t been here with some of these receivers. So all I want to see of him is play a good football game in the quarterback position and come back to keep in mind the big picture for all of us. “

Nagy and the Bears can probably consider tonight a success.
