The Conference – IMSS Technical Council, concerned about lack of medicines and prescriptions

Mexico City. The members of the Technical Council of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) raised their concern about the lack of drugs and timely supply of prescriptions. They were pronounced for the acquisitions to be made by the body, as “it has the historical experience to do so in an efficient, transparent and honest manner.”

In an ordinary session of the highest governing body of the institute, held this Wednesday and where the Secretary of the Treasury, Rogelio Ramírez de O, had his first participation as the representative representative of the Federal Executive, members of the labor, employer and government sectors noted that the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is no longer in charge of input purchases.

Ramírez de O stressed that the IMSS Technical Council discusses issues of great importance for the benefit of beneficiaries and expressed his commitment to work in a coordinated manner to address institutional challenges and strengthen the Mexican health system.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the IMSS “has been one of the pillars on which the health of Mexican workers rests and on economic recovery,” he commented.
