Assam Congress Alliance: Congress ends alliance with GMP, Ajmal from Ajmal to Assam | News from India

NEW DELHI: Congress on Monday said it is ending its alliance with the AIUDF led by Badruddin Ajmal and the Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) in Assam.
This measure will effectively pave the way for the collapse of the “Mahajot” (Great Alliance) formed earlier this year before the Assembly elections in Assam.
A key meeting of the committee, chaired by state Congressman Bhupen Bora, noted that the “behavior and attitude of the AIUDF in relation to the BJP has baffled members of Congress,” the spokesman told reporters. of the party, Bobbeeta Sharma.
He said the “continuous and mysterious praises of AIUDF to the BJP” have affected the public image of Congress.
A discussion on the alliance with GMP was also held, as its leadership has expressed its willingness to continue to be part of the “Great Alliance” on various platforms, he said.
The president of the state Congress was given full authority to make a decision on the issue and it was decided to inform the high command of the decision to break ties with the party, Sharma said.
The movement of the great old party takes place in the midst of the growing clamor that should leave the great alliance in the northeastern state.
The “Great Alliance” or “Mahajot”, made up of ten parties, led by Congress, was formed before this year’s assembly elections in the state.
However, he was unable to overthrow the BJP-led government in May this year, winning only 50 of the 126 seats.
