Jawad Andarabi, Son of the now-killed, has stated that the soldiers -even- had tea with the musician in his room house. However, the situation suddenly changed on Friday.

“He was innocent, a singer who only entertained people,” he noted. “He was shot in the head” when he was “on the farm,” added Andarabi, who bears the same name as the place where the terrible execution took place.

He also indicated that his family was waiting for justice and that a local Taliban council had promised to punish his father’s killer. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said insurgents would investigate the case, but had no further information.

The Afghan played the ghichak (a bowed lute) and sang traditional songs about his birthplace, his people and Afghanistan in general. A video released after his death shows him in a performance sitting on a carpet and with the mountains in his backyard.

In this regard, Larima Bennoune, special envoy of United Nations on cultural rights, and Agnes Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty International, voiced her concern about the unfortunate event.

“There is growing evidence that the 2021 Taliban is the same as the 2001 intolerant, violent and repressive Taliban,” Callamard wrote on Twitter. “Twenty years later. Nothing has changed in that regard.”

Andarabi’s assassination occurred while United States culminates its historic evacuation from Kabul and is expected to end this August 31st. Scenes of chaos and multiple loss of life have taken him around the world, following a suicide attack by the Islamic State in which 180 people died.
