Britain reports a lower number of COVID cases in almost 3 weeks

LONDON, Aug. 30 (Reuters) – Britain has reported 26,476 new cases of COVID-19, the lowest number since Aug. 10, government figures showed on Monday.

The figure means that the cases reported between August 24 and 30 increased by 1.8% compared to the previous seven days.

Case figures usually fall after the weekends and the latest figure may be skewed by Monday holidays in much of the UK.

A further 48 people were reported to have died within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test, the lowest since August 23, with a seven-day increase to 14.8%.

A total of 48,025 million people had received a first dose of a coronavirus vaccine by the end of August 29 and 42,719 million people had received a second dose, equivalent to almost 79% of people over 16 years of age. .
