COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC): For the third week in a row, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control reported that a total of three days of newly detected COVID-19 cases exceeded 10,000.
DHEC said a total of 16,072 new cases were registered between Thursday and Saturday.
The agency provides the latest new cases of deaths from COVID-19 with a 48-hour delay, which it says ensures more time to verify the numbers. It only publishes this data on weekdays, i.e. Mondays include three-day information, from the Thursday before Saturday.
Data include confirmed and probable cases. The agency says confirmed cases are detected by PCR tests, while probable cases are detected by rapid tests.
