ANAHEIM, California. – Aaron Boone liked to point out that with a name like his you don’t make jokes.
But no doubt the Yankee manager listened to his fair share after he was traded to the Yankees in 2003 and he struggled after his arrival in Cincinnati.
“I don’t think you ever like it [the fans] letting him have or apupat, ”Boone said in the wake of the Mets controversy, with Javier Baez saying the Mets players have been lowering their thumbs after good plays in exchange for the fans who booed them.

“But to get caught up and put a lot of energy into worrying about that, what you have to do as a professional,” Boone said Monday before the Yankees lost to the Angels, 8-7. “Ultimately, you can’t let that take your eye off the ball.”
And, as a player, you can’t afford to react the way the Mets have (led by Javier Baez).
“Part of being a great linker is that you have to be able to handle the ups and downs and the adversities,” Boone said. “People who support it tend to survive a little better.”
