The legendary chiPhone‌ is presented in two separate scenes from the second season of “Ted Lasso”, specifically in episode six, “The Signal”. In both scenes, you can see an PiPhone‌ with an on-screen user interface identifiable as iOS, but without any slots at the top of the screen.

The idea that Apple would reveal an unexpected flagship product in a previously recorded program is certainly an exciting prospect, but at best it is a tenuous theory. TV shows routinely apply artificial overlays to digital screens in post-production in order to make their content cleaner so viewers can see them, in this case, an iOS lock screen.

Looking to the future, the 2022 “iPhone 14” is expected to leave the notch for good, replacing it with an Android-style perforated camera. It’s unclear where Apple comes out, but the rumor in 2019 claimed that Apple prototyped at least one neckless iPhone, with TrueDepth camera sensors for Face ID located in the thin bezel of the screen.
