He said passengers arriving in or transiting the UK, Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand and Zimbabwe will have to undergo paid RT-PCR testing after landing at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
All other passengers (except previous countries), who must leave the airport or board connecting flights, must show the negative RT-PCR report made within 72 hours of their trip, according to reported the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
“RT-PCR testing will not be mandatory for these passengers on arrival at Mumbai airport from 00:00 on September 3,” he said.
All passengers will be required to submit their self-declaration forms and commitments to officers deployed at the airport and will be subject to a 14-day home quarantine.
The civic body further stated that the steps were taken in accordance with the guidelines of the center due to the detection of more transmissible variants of the coronavirus.
The airport operator has already made arrangements for tests and RT-PCR registration at the airport, so passengers will have to pay 600 rupees, according to the statement, which states that the airport can perform 600 tests. per day.
