Brewers don’t stop and dethrone Giants

SAN FRANCISCO – Jace Peterson advanced to his team with a single in the seventh inning, Lorenzo Cain took it off the field for the second game in a row and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Francisco Giants 5-2 on Wednesday to take them out from the top of the National League for the first time in three months.

The Giants (84-49) matched their worst streak of losses of the season with four in a row and fell to second place in the Western Division of the National after spending 108 days at the top of the standings, since May 30, their best result since they’ve been in San Francisco. Defending World Series champion Dodgers (85-49) took his place after beating the Atlanta Braves 4-3.

Daniel Norris (2-3) blew two in the sixth episode to claim victory. Norris replaced Brett Anderson, who had to get off the hill earlier than expected due to the impact of a beaten line at 103 miles per hour on the pitching shoulder. Milwaukee locksmith Josh Hader pulled out his 29th save.

The defeat was by Dominic Leone (3-3), who yielded a hit and a score in two-thirds of work.

For the Brewers, the Dominican Willy Adames 4-1, with a boost. The Venezuelans Avisaíl García of 5-1, with one annotated; Omar Narváez 4-1, with a score. Mexican Luis Uries 4-1.

For the Giants, Venezuelans Wilmer Flowers 3-1; Thairo Road 4-0.
