A varied basket of Covid-19 virus vaccines including CovidShield, Sinovac, AstraZeneca and Pfizer, has received the Dominican Republic since last February so far, reaching almost 20 million doses.
As of last July 30, the country had received 15.4 million doses of vaccines against Covid-19, while during the month of August and the first day of September it received 4.4 million more doses, according to with the summaries of the twitter information posted on her account by Vice President Raquel Peña, coordinator of the Health Cabinet.
The country has 55.8% of the population over the age of 18 vaccinated with two doses of the virus and 67.7% with the first dose, while it has applied more than 11 million doses in this population.
Immunization also includes minors from the age of 12, but details of how many have been vaccinated have not been officially released.
vaccines applied
As of September 1, preliminary data from the VacunateRD portal indicate that 11,189,420 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been applied since last February to date, of which 5,827,045 correspond to the first dose; 4,671,784 people have completed both doses and 690,591 have been placed on the booster dose or third dose.
The country receives batches of vaccines every week, mostly from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer.
According to the publications of the Vice President of the Republic, during the month of August, the country received batches of different quantities of vaccines, including one of 163,200 on day three; 100,620 on the fourth of August; 503,100 on day six; 77,600 on the 10th; in addition to 431,730 doses on the 13th; on 27 August 657,480 doses were received and on 29 two million doses of Sinovac were reported.
This first of September the arrival of 503,100 new doses was notified.
Since last February to date, it is estimated that the country has received about 19,800,000 doses of different types of vaccines, with the Dominican Republic being among the countries that has made the most progress in immunizing its population.
The national escalation
The Dominican government has begun scaling the curfew in provinces that exceed 70 percent of its inoculated population.
This milestone has been achieved so far by the province of La Altagracia and the National District which have 86.1% and 81.5% of the population over 18 years with the two doses of vaccine, which is the complete scheme.
Espaillat, a province that according to Peña declared last Tuesday, already has 79% of its population vaccinated, so it will be declared free of curfew and other restrictions.
They are followed by Pedernales, Port Plata and Sant Pere de Macorís, with 66.8%; 61.1% and 60.1%, respectively.
The provinces that have the most delays in the percentages of vaccinated population are San Cristóbal, Monsignor Nouel, Elías Pinya, La Vega, Santo Domingo and Duarte.
fewer hospitalizations
The numbers of hospitalized due to Covid-19 disease continue to decline permanently in the country in recent weeks, keeping the Covid hospital network an availability of 85% of its beds for patients with the virus.
The system reported yesterday that about 399 patients were confined in public and private health centers in the Covid network for an occupancy of 15% of the 2,604 enabled, while in care conditions remained 137 patients, for an occupation of the 22% of ICU beds.
Of those admitted to the ICU, 80 were in need of assisted breathing, equivalent to 15% of ventilators enabled for patients with Covid-19.
A new dead
Yesterday the country reported a new death for Covid-19, to reach 4,009 deaths caused by the disease in the country, as well as 321 new cases captured in the last 24 hours, for a cumulative of 350,789 positive reports.
To date, 340,000 people have recovered from the virus.
Bulletin number 532 issued yesterday by the Directorate General of Epidemiology (DIGEPI) reported 6,180 laboratory samples processed in the last 24 hours, of which 321 were new positive cases in SARS COV-2, which places the daily positivity is at 8.24% and the accumulated in the last four weeks at 5.83%.

Of the new positive cases detected, 51 were identified in Santiago; 48 in the National District, 31 in the province of Santo Domingo and 24 in La Vega.
The country currently reports 5,097 active cases of viruses.
Of those samples processed yesterday, 3,148 were from Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and 3,032 from antigen, of which 3,896 were made for the first time, and 2,284 were subsequent.
The total number of samples processed in the country since the pandemic began is 1,962,204 equivalent to 187,798 per million inhabitants.
