New studies on coronavirus and vaccine have been published.
A study recently published in the British Journal Lancet examined more than 43,000 patients specifically infected with the alpha or delta variant. They found that the risk of requiring hospitalization was double for people infected with delta.
A paper published in the Lancet Infectious Diseases gives a new insight into advanced infections from data presented by millions of vaccine recipients in the UK.
People with an advanced infection were more likely to be completely asymptomatic after two doses of the vaccine, especially if they were over 60 years old.
This does not mean that an asymptomatic person cannot spread the coronavirus, but most vaccinated people do not get seriously ill. The study was also able to tell the risk that advanced symptomatic patients would have symptoms beyond one month. Essentially, the risk of long-term COVID was halved by vaccination.
