“Tonight, the president and first lady are visiting wounded warriors at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center,” the White House said in a statement.
Of the 15 Marines treated Walter Reed, “one is in critical condition, three in serious condition and 11 in stable condition,” said Marine Corps spokesman Jim Stenger.
On Sunday, the president and first lady attended what the military described as a “worthy transfer,” when cases involving the remains of 13 U.S. service members killed in the attack returned to the United States.
The transfer, which took place at the Dover Air Force Base in Biden’s home state of Delaware, was also attended by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Joint President of the chief of staff, General Mark Milley, and other senior military officers.
