New York Jets wide receiver Jamison Crowder, positive for COVID-19, says the source

FLORHAM PARK, NJ – New York Jets wide receiver Jamison Crowder tested positive for COVID-19, a source confirmed Friday, jeopardizing his early-season status against the Carolina Panthers.

The vaccination status of Crowder is not known and this will probably help determine its availability. Players who are not vaccinated must be seated for at least 10 days, according to league protocols. A fully vaccinated player may return after two separate negative tests 24 hours a day.

It is unknown when it tested positive, but it was not seen in practice all week. On Thursday, coach Robert Saleh said Crowder is suffering a minor groin injury and is considered day-to-day.

The Jets believe it is an isolated case.

Crowder is one of the planned starting receivers, along with Corey Davis and rookie Elijah Moore. Without Crowder, they could use Moore in the slot, with Keelan Cole or Denzel Mims moving to a place outside.

It was a quiet preseason for Crowder, who only played 16 snapshots and only took one pass for 4 yards. He took a pay cut during the low season, reducing his base salary from $ 10 million to $ 5 million, the last year of his contract. In two seasons with the Jets, Crowder has 137 catches for 1,532 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The NFL Network first reported the positive test.
